Gladman - proposal for up to 50 houses

Late on the afternoon of Monday 18th December we'd an email about a proposed planning application by Gladman for up to 50 houses on land off Drayton Road to the rear of Westbrook End. The email said "Gladman is proposing a residential development on land off Drayton Road, Newton Longville. Please see the attached letter containing further details about our public consultation exercise as well as our consultation leaflet. This will be distributed to local residents and businesses in close proximity to the site later this week." The email enclosed a letter, plan and copy of leaflet - these are all displayed below. As a result we issued a Pump Extra around the village and organised a public meeting on 4th January.

Thanks to everyone who came to to the public meeting held at the Newton Longville CoE Primary School on a wet winter evening on 4th January and to the school for hosting the meeting at short notice. 70 residents attended and gave a unanimous “NO” when asked to say if they supported the proposal or not. At the Parish Council meeting after the public meeting, the parish council unanimously decided to object. If you want a copy of the parish council objection, please email your details to This email address is being protected from spambots. Gladman Developments propose a development of up to 50 houses off Drayton Road (on the right leaving the village after passing Westbrook End). Apart from a reduction from 58 to 50, this is little different to the application in 2019 which was refused. Please make comments to Gladman, but do not use their online form, you should send your comments by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. This is very similar to a previous application on 19/01754/AOP the same site submitted in 2019 and refused by AVDC in 2020. Gladman have a history of appealling refusals and/or challenging in court, but they did not appeal the previous refusal.
