Late yesterday (Wednesday 10th November) the agenda was published for the Buckinghamshire Council Strategic Sites Committee (olanning committee) meeting on Thursday 18th November. The meeting is at 2 pm at The Gateway, Aylesbury.

The only two items on the agenda are Salden Chase and the SGN Gas Depot gas injection planning applications. Both are recommended for approval. The agenda can be viewed on the Buckinghamshire Council website.

There are long reports for each application. All those who objected should be notified by Buckinghamshire Council and given the opportunity to register to speak. However at present there is a limit on how many people may speak. We hope the committee will override this rule and allow more to speak.

If you have not already made comments on either application you may still do so.

Salden Chase (the so called “South West Milton Keynes”)

Identical planning applications were submitted in January 2015 to both Aylesbury Vale DC (AVDC)
(now Buckinghamshire Council) and Milton Keynes Council as the site is covered by both.

“Outline planning application with all matters reserved except for access for a mixed-use sustainable urban extension on land to the south west of Milton Keynes to provide up to 1,855 mixed tenure dwellings…”

• 15/00314/AOP This application was originally submitted in 2015 to Aylesbury Vale District Council but has still to be determined. Amended plans and consultee comments were uploaded to the Buckinghamshire Council planning portal in February and March. The parish council (along with other local councils) continues to oppose this major development on our doorstep, however given the appeal decision and VALP report (both below) it is now unlikely Buckinghamshire Council (BC) will refuse the application. However given the improvements made through the Milton Keynes appeal decision and the planning policy requirements in VALP it is hoped BC will require similar improvements within Newton Longville and the Buckinghamshire more generally.

• 15/00619/FUL - As on the Sep/Oct 2021 edition of the Village Pump, the Planning Appeal against the refusal by Milton Keynes Council was granted by the Government appointed Planning Inspector. While this outcome is disappointing, the appeal process has resulted in improvements being made to the original plans.
